CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES

We invite all students, even those not studying French, to explore Francophone culture and learn/speak French during some meetings.

Inspired by the writings of Columbine victim Rachel Scott, this extension of the Rachel’s Challenge program strives to create a culture in which students think about their actions and seek opportunities to spread kindness through their interactions. Projects include arts and crafts kindness projects, targeted letters of kindness, and care packages for those in need.

Eustace Prep is proud to have a volunteer chapter of GlamourGals. GlamourGals Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit that inspires conversation and companionship through complimentary beauty makeovers given by teen volunteers to seniors living in residential care. The program fosters these intergenerational connections on a national scale by organizing a network of volunteer chapters and training a movement of empathetic teen leaders to alleviate the issue of elder isolation.

This club seeks to grow students’ appreciation for the beauty of the Italian culture and language. Participants meet once a month focusing on Italian sayings, phrases, basic conversational skills, and cultural experiences such as Italian art, music, traditional celebrations, and cuisine.

The Janie’s Joy Foundation at Eustace Prep is dedicated to mental health issues. It was created in loving memory of Janie Marie Robertson, a homeless woman with mental health issues who passed away on a Philadelphia street in January of 2020. Its goal is to destigmatize mental health through education, advocacy, prevention, and activities including fundraising, friendraising, and outreach programs.

The Phoenix Magazine is a digital-based magazine that exists for students of all grade levels. It is a place where a student can share poems, short stories, one-act plays, essays, as well as original artwork and photography with the Bishop Eustace community. Students may elect to remain anonymous when they submit a piece. The magazine is student-led from the theme for the year, to designed layouts, to editing. The final product is shared digitally with the current BE community, as well as parents and alums.

This club seeks to promote mathematics and critical thinking through problem solving. Students are encouraged to work together beyond the classroom to solve challenging problems and prepare for math contests. The club is open to all students seeking the opportunity to discuss strategies, exchange ideas, and explore the power of mathematics.

Crusaders bring the law to life through active preparation for and participation in a statewide Mock Trial competition. This helps students increase basic life and leadership skills such as listening, speaking, writing, reading and analyzing. Students also learn and understand the meaning of good citizenship in a democracy, vis-a-vis our system of law and justice. This occurs in a highly competitive environment created for the purpose of stimulating and encouraging a deeper understanding and appreciation of the American legal system by high school students.

What are the unalienable human rights available to everyone, and what actions may be appropriate to protect our access to them? The Ethics Team works to develop a better understanding of these fundamental questions through examination of current and historical examples. Using research and debate, we create practical solutions to thought-provoking real-life ethical dilemmas, culminating in our participation in the annual Delaware Valley Regional High School Ethics Bowl. This program is excellent preparation for students interested in law, medicine, business or the humanities.

Members discuss topics in medical science. In addition, members explore careers in the health care industry. Meetings occur monthly.

As a participant of the F.I.R.S.T. robotic competition, this club allows students to build a robot as they learn about electric, mechanical, and computer engineering as well as business and marketing. With the assistance of teachers, professional engineers, and business people, students develop their scientific interest and build self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills to pursue opportunities in the hard sciences. The club applies classroom lessons as well as teamwork and real-world problem-solving skills as participants compete against other teams in local, state, and national competitions.

Open to all students, this group explores methods and strategies for making choices that benefit and enrich lives. Participants meet monthly to sponsor SADD Day as well as other programs and presentations throughout the year.

Celebrating a game that combines volleyball and four square, this club meets every Thursday or Friday, depending on weather conditions.

These student leaders represent students’ opinions on school issues and sponsor activities including Spirit Week, Black and White celebration days, and school dances. Elections are held in April and May for the following school year; freshmen elections are held in September.

This group aims to create a welcoming, responsive environment that enhances the effectiveness of Lulli Library as the intellectual and cultural center of the school. Club members work the circulation desk, plan bulletin boards and exhibits, and hold special events including the schools’ book fair and Baseball Day. Social events for members include a Christmas party and a senior farewell snack.

The Tabletop Club at Eustace Prep focuses on the enjoyment and sharing of tabletop and board games. The goals of the club are to share the joy of different strategic tabletop games and to teach different forms of strategy and sportsmanship for players of all skill levels. The club strives to introduce new players to new games while it fosters an environment of teamwork, competition, respect, and fun.

This club tackles the challenge of developing the yearbook from beginning to end. Club members are tasked with developing themes, designing the cover and layouts, selecting pictures, photographing events, proofreading copy, and entering data into StudioWorks. All interested students are encouraged to join.

Open to all students of all skill levels, this full-year elective exposes participants to exciting and challenging works from major classical and contemporary composers. Students perform at two concerts and various school-sponsored activities throughout the school year.

This orchestra brings students from the String Orchestra together with selected instrumentalists from the Symphonic Band for specialized performance opportunities. Students of all experience levels are encouraged to participate; no audition is required.

This ensemble is cast in the traditional big band model made famous by greats like Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, and Stan Kenton. The band performs much of the traditional big band repertoire as well as newer contemporary works. Rehearsals emphasize ensemble playing, sight reading, and preparation for the ensemble’s twice yearly performances.

This band brings together Crusader musicians to perform for musical productions.
